Our story begins like every great story, an unplanned night of conversation about life's passions, and the hopes and dreams for the future. My father and I were both at transitional points in our lives, and different points in our careers, but quickly realized we had intersected in a big way, making what we named ‘the Reese's peanut butter cup”. Our two worlds collided to make something better, but instead of peanut butter and chocolate, we had a mattress industry veteran colliding with a new world technologist.
As David explained, the transformation of the mattress industry with the adoption of technology and online purchasing, came with certain things that just didn’t add up, and we knew something had to be done.
OK yes, the retail shopping experience can be one of the most dreaded experiences, we got that, but what we didn’t understand is how one mattress could be perfect for everyone, as everyone has physical needs and personal preferences. How could these mattresses sell for 2 or 3 times more in a store, when they’re simply a zippered bag of foam? How have they eliminated the middleman, when they have just become the middleman? And how the heck is a "100 night no questions asked trial" a good thing when hundreds of millions of mattresses are discarded into landfills every year? Sometimes great marketing is just that. We knew there was work to be done to become the disruptors of the disruptors. As they poke holes in the traditional mattress shopping experience, we poke holes in their theories...Boom! Luxi was born.
Luxi was founded in 2015 by a father-daughter duo who share a passion for design and purposeful solutions to one of the most meaningful purchases you will make your life - your mattress.
